This policy explains what Aroma Dana (“we”, “us”) collects on samples.aromadana.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. On this site you can join our sample list, add a phone number for texts, and reserve or buy samples.
When you pay, you finish on our Shopify checkout at aromadana.com. Our store privacy policy also covers that checkout.
What we collect
What you give us
- Your email address, when you join the list.
- Your mobile number, only if you choose to add it for texts.
- Your scent choice and what you reserve.
- When you buy: your name, shipping and billing address, phone number and order details. You enter these on the Shopify checkout. Your card details go to Shopify’s payment processor. They never reach this site.
- Anything you write to us, for example an email to customer service.
What we collect automatically
- Device and usage information: your browser and device type, the pages you view, the buttons you tap, the scent you pick, and a rough location based on your IP address. Google Analytics and the Meta pixel collect this for us.
- Our web host keeps your IP address and basic request details in its server logs, for security.
What we keep on your own device
- Where you first came from: the ad campaign tags in the link you clicked (for example
utm_source,fbclid,gclid), the first page you saw and the website that sent you. We attach these to your sign-up so we know which ads work. - Your place in the sign-up steps. This is kept only until you close the tab.
- Your privacy choice, if you opt out on our Your privacy choices page.
You can remove what is stored on your device at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
Cookies
This site does not set its own advertising cookies. When they load, Google Analytics and the Meta pixel set their own cookies (for example _ga, _fbp and _fbc). These companies may collect information about your activity on this site and on other sites over time.
Why we use it
- To send you the emails and texts you asked for: the sample link, launch news and offers.
- To take, ship and support your orders and reservations.
- To answer your questions.
- To see which ads and pages work, and to show our ads to people who may like them.
- To keep the site secure and stop fraud.
- To follow the law, for example tax and accounting rules.
Who we share it with
We share information only with companies that help us run the brand:
- Klaviyo sends our emails and texts, and keeps our list.
- Shopify runs our checkout, payments and orders.
- Google (Google Analytics) measures how people use the site.
- Meta (the Meta pixel) measures our Facebook and Instagram ads and helps show them to the right people.
- Vercel hosts this site.
- Shipping carriers deliver your order.
We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone’s safety, or if our business is sold or merged.
We do not sell your information for money. Some US state laws treat letting Meta or Google use your activity on our site for advertising as a “sale” or “sharing”. You can opt out of that. See Your choices below.
Text messages: we do not share your mobile number or your consent to receive texts with any third party for its own marketing. Text opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties, except the companies that send our texts for us.
Your choices
- Emails: every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Texts: reply STOP to any text to stop them. Reply HELP for help. See the text message terms.
- Opt out of “sale” or “sharing”: use our Your privacy choices page. When you opt out, the Meta pixel does not load, and Google Analytics runs with its advertising features off.
- Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out automatically.
- Do Not Track: browsers’ older “Do Not Track” signal has no agreed meaning, so we do not respond to it. We do honour Global Privacy Control.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas or Oregon, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we have about you and get a copy of it;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of it, and of targeted advertising;
- not be treated differently for using these rights.
We give these rights to everyone, wherever you live. To make a request, email contact@aromadana.info with the subject “Privacy request”. We will confirm your request by writing back to the email address we have on file, and we will answer within 45 days. Someone you authorise can make a request for you. If we say no, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and we will explain our final decision.
How long we keep it
- Your email address and phone number: until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep only a record that you unsubscribed, so we do not contact you again.
- Orders: as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to 7 years.
- Google Analytics data: up to 14 months.
- What is stored on your device: until you clear it.
Children
This site is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. We do not sell or share the information of anyone under 16. If you think a child has given us information, email contact@aromadana.info and we will delete it.
Keeping it safe
The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Card details never touch this site. We limit who can see your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise complete security.
Where we process it
We are based in the United States. We and our service providers store and process your information in the United States.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change is important, we will also tell you by email if you are on our list.
